Property Overview

Ocean Paradise Resort & Spa occupies a spacious beachfront site on Zanzibar’s north-east coast, surrounded by tropical gardens and coconut palms. Its rooms and suites are arranged in round, traditional-style buildings with makuti roofs, spread across the grounds between the reception area and the Indian Ocean.

The elevated reception provides an open view across the gardens towards the sea. Pathways lead through the property to the large swimming pool, restaurants and white-sand beach, allowing guests to move easily between quieter garden areas and the main leisure facilities.

The resort has 98 rooms and suites, each with a balcony or terrace. Air conditioning, satellite television, tea- and coffee-making facilities, a minibar, seating and mosquito-netted beds are provided across the accommodation.

Facilities include three restaurants, two bars, a fitness centre, a PADI-accredited dive centre and a spa. Guests can divide their time between the beach and pool or arrange water sports and excursions through the resort.

Rooms

Ocean Paradise Resort & Spa has 98 rooms and suites arranged throughout its tropical gardens. The accommodation occupies round, chalet-style buildings and includes air conditioning, satellite television, tea- and coffee-making facilities, a minibar and a balcony or terrace.

• Standard Garden rooms measure approximately 49 square metres and have a furnished balcony overlooking the gardens. They are situated around 250 metres from the beach and swimming pool.

• Superior Garden rooms also face the resort grounds and gardens from a furnished balcony. Their position places them approximately 200 to 230 metres from the beach and pool.

• Superior rooms are located closer to the main leisure areas, approximately 50 to 130 metres from the beach and pool. Each has a terrace with seating and garden or resort views.

• Superior Seafront rooms occupy the lower level of the resort, close to the beach, pool, Jahazi Restaurant and Pool Bar. Their furnished terraces face the ocean and beachfront.

• Junior Suites comprise two interconnecting round chalets with separate entrances. They include a king-size bedroom, a separate lounge and a furnished terrace with garden views and partial ocean views.

Food & Drink

Ocean Paradise Resort & Spa has three restaurants and two bars, with dining available beside the pool, overlooking the gardens and directly along the beachfront.

Ocean Restaurant is positioned above the main resort area, with views across the grounds towards the Indian Ocean. Breakfast is served buffet-style, with baked goods, cereals, fruit, juices, cold selections and cooked dishes.

Jahazi Restaurant is located beside the swimming pool. During the day, it serves light meals, snacks and wood-fired pizzas. Dinner takes the form of themed buffets combining international dishes with Zanzibari flavours.

Mawimbi Restaurant occupies a beachfront setting and focuses on seafood, Swahili-inspired cooking and international choices. À la carte lunches and selected evening dining experiences are offered here.

Bahari Bar & Lounge overlooks the gardens and waterfall near the main building, while the Pool Bar provides drinks and refreshments beside the swimming pool.

Activities

The resort provides a mixture of water-based activities, sports and organised excursions. Its PADI-accredited dive centre offers diving trips and courses for different experience levels, including guests who are new to scuba diving.

Available water activities may include windsurfing, sailing, kayaking and boat excursions. Dolphin-watching trips can also be arranged through the resort, subject to local operating conditions.

On land, guests have access to a fitness centre, beach volleyball, billiards and table tennis. The resort’s activity team organises selected games and competitions during the stay.
