Property Overview

Bluebay Beach Resort & Spa is a 5-star resort on Zanzibar’s east coast, set directly beside Kiwengwa Beach. The property extends across 30 acres of tropical gardens planted with more than 1,000 palm trees, with the accommodation, restaurants and leisure facilities spread between the gardens and shoreline.

Traditional Swahili influences appear throughout the resort, while the rooms use Zanzibari-style decoration and hand-carved furniture. Free Wi-Fi is available in the accommodation and public areas.

The resort shares a 582-metre section of white-sand coastline with the neighbouring Sultan Sands Island Resort & Spa. Bluebay guests may also use the facilities at the sister property, adding further dining and leisure choices within walking distance.

Abeid Amani Karume International Airport is approximately 46 kilometres from Bluebay Beach Resort & Spa. The drive generally takes between 45 minutes and one hour, depending on traffic and the transfer arrangements.

Rooms

Rooms and suites are spacious and bright, with Zanzibari-style decoration and hand-carved furniture. Accommodation options include Deluxe Rooms, Deluxe Ocean View Rooms, Suites and two Sultan Suites.

Deluxe Rooms occupy an elevated position overlooking the tropical gardens, while Deluxe Ocean View Rooms face towards the coast. Amenities include a dressing area, en-suite bathroom, balcony or veranda, air conditioning, satellite television, mini-fridge, tea- and coffee-making facilities, hairdryer, safe, telephone and free Wi-Fi.

The six renovated Suites measure approximately 90 square metres and stand in three bungalows around 30 metres from the beach. Each has a separate lounge, a large veranda and a private garden with an outdoor shower and plunge pool.

The two Sultan Suites are positioned at the ocean’s edge. They include a large bedroom, separate dressing room, lounge and furnished veranda, together with an en-suite bathroom featuring indoor and outdoor shower facilities.

Dining focuses on local ingredients, fresh seafood and a mixture of international, Italian and Asian cooking.

Makuti Restaurant is the main dining venue, serving breakfast, lunch and themed evening meals. It overlooks the swimming pool and ocean, with live entertainment offered on selected evenings.

Bahari Grill occupies a beachfront setting and specialises in fresh seafood for lunch. The Trattoria serves Italian à la carte dinners, while The Wok offers Asian dishes in the evening.

Blu Deli Terrace Café provides coffee, cakes and a relaxed seating area with Wi-Fi. Palms Pool Bar serves wines, spirits, cocktails, soft drinks, fresh juices and speciality coffees beside the swimming pool, with evening entertainment on many nights.
