Property Overview

Karafuu Beach Resort & Spa occupies a large tropical garden on Zanzibar’s east coast, directly beside a white-sand beach. A 200-metre pathway extends from the shore to a natural swimming area, allowing guests to enter deeper water more comfortably when the tide is low.

The resort has 166 spacious, air-conditioned accommodation units. Traditional Zanzibari decoration, makuti-thatched roofs and furnished verandas give the rooms a clear sense of place, while categories range from garden and pool-view rooms to beachfront suites and private villas.

Four swimming pools are spread across the grounds. The main pool faces the beach, while separate pools serve the Masai and Bondeni areas. The fourth forms part of the spa facilities above the cliff.

Dining includes international buffets, seafood, poolside pizza and traditional Swahili and Masai evenings. Sports facilities, a diving centre, organised excursions and a children’s club provide further options throughout the stay.

Rooms

Karafuu Beach Resort & Spa has 166 air-conditioned accommodation units with furnished verandas, makuti-thatched roofs and traditional Zanzibari decoration. Television, Wi-Fi, a minibar, tea- and coffee-making facilities, a safe and mosquito nets are provided across the principal room categories.

Infinity Villas occupy a cliff-top position above the beach and accommodate up to two guests.

Seafront Villas have four bedrooms, four en-suite bathrooms, a living room and a private swimming pool. Each villa accommodates up to eight guests.

Suites are located along the beachfront beneath the palm trees and include a separate living area, private garden entrance and sea-facing veranda.

Junior Suites are also sea-facing, positioned beneath the palm grove or on the cliff. They accommodate up to four guests.

Cottages stand on the slope behind the Junior Suites, with most providing partial sea views through the palm trees.

Pool View Rooms are located in the Bondeni area around the swimming pool, while Masai Pool Rooms sit close to the Masai Village and feature Masai-inspired decoration.

Deluxe Garden View Rooms occupy the upper part of the resort’s tropical gardens, close to either the Masai or Bondeni pool areas.

Karafuu Beach Resort & Spa offers several dining settings across the beachfront, pool areas and main resort grounds.

Kijiji is the principal restaurant, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner on a sea-view terrace. Its themed buffets combine European, Oriental and international dishes.

Le Grand Bleu is an à la carte seafood restaurant beside the beach. It serves lunch and dinner, with meat and vegetarian choices also available.

Bondeni PizzaMore Restaurant is positioned within the Bondeni Pool area and focuses on pizza, grilled dishes and fusion cooking.

Masai Village presents traditional Swahili and Masai dinners accompanied by folkloric performances.

Paradice, close to the main pool and Le Grand Bleu, serves homemade Italian ice cream, cakes and other sweet treats.
