Property Overview

Massinga Beach Lodge is set along a 1.3-kilometre stretch of sandy coastline in Inhambane Province. Its independently positioned rooms and chalets overlook the ocean, while the Ocean Front Deluxe Rooms include private splash pools.

The lodge serves meals prepared with fresh local ingredients and can accommodate dietary requirements on request. The Beach Bar and swimming pool are built among natural rocks beside the ocean, with space for sunbathing and refreshments. Satellite television is available in the bar and library, while Wi-Fi is limited to the reception area. The lodge also hosts weddings, birthdays and group events.

Distance from Airport

The transfer from Inhambane Airport takes approximately two hours. It includes a short taxi journey to the port, followed by either a ferry crossing to Maxixe or an alternative road route, and a final drive to the lodge.

Rooms

Ocean Front Deluxe Room: The lodge has 16 of these ocean-facing rooms, each with a private veranda, splash pool and views across the sea. Spacious bedrooms and bathrooms open onto the deck, while extra-length beds provide additional comfort. During whale season, guests may sometimes see whales from their veranda.
Ocean View Chalet: The 12 chalets are particularly suitable for families. Each combines a bedroom and living area with a large terrace facing the ocean. Unlike the Ocean Front Deluxe Rooms, these chalets do not include a private plunge pool.

Food & Drink

The lodge serves a daily chef’s menu prepared with fresh local ingredients. Meals are offered at the restaurant, while dietary requirements can be accommodated when requested in advance. Guests can also enjoy drinks and refreshments at the Beach Bar beside the oceanfront swimming pool.

Experiences & Activities

Guests can use bicycles at low tide, walk along the beach or join a coconut-cutting demonstration. The Beach Bar area has table tennis, darts, air hockey and beach volleyball, with surfboards and bodyboards also available.

Snorkelling is possible near the Fingers rock formation when tides and weather allow. Fishing trips can be arranged, and the chef may prepare the day’s catch. Other options include an excursion to Pansy Island and scuba diving near Morrungulo, approximately 45 minutes from the lodge. Beginners can practise in the lodge’s dive pool before heading into open water.
