Things to Do & See in Port Louis

Visit Chinatown and BLUE PENNY MUSEUM

One of the best things to do in the capital of Mauritius is to explore Chinatown. To help revitalize the area, colorful trash cans, murals on the buildings, and the yearly Chinatown Food & Cultural Festival have contributed to Chinatown's renaissance. Chinatown is a must-see in Port Louis, whether you're into street art or want to try some of the most excellent Sino-Mauritian cuisines.
The Blue Penny Museum in Port Louis is one of the most stunning cultural treasures in Mauritian history. It honors Mauritius's history and culture by showcasing its art and culture. The museum is Mauritius' oldest and houses an extensive array of natural science specimens, including a replica of the dodo. The exhibits in the museum's galleries take you on a journey over the past five decades of Mauritius' natural history.
The museum's collection of historical artifacts includes the original 1881 Prosper d'Epinay monument of Pauline and Virginie and the iconic red "One Penny" and blue "Two Pence" Post Office stamps.

Enjoy the scenery from Fort Adelaide

Fort Adelaide, better known as the Citadel, is another must-see landmark in Port Louis. It's a great site to catch a glimpse of Port Louis from above. Citadel Fort was initially named Adelaide after William II's wife, but later on, its name was changed.
You may still see a glimpse of colonial days by visiting La Petite Montagne, where the fort lies on top. There is a slight hill to climb to get to this spot, but the sights are well worth it.
The British initially constructed it throughout the nineteenth century to keep attackers out of the port, but it was never used for that purpose.
The fort sits on a hill overlooking the entire city of Port Louis. Port Louis's buildings, the port area, the Champs de Mars racetrack, and the surrounding mountains can be seen clearly from the top. A tiny parking lot is near the entrance gate and free entry.

Visit Central Market

The Central Market is one of the city's top attractions. You'll find everything from fresh fruit to food, herbal medications, and souvenirs at this one-of-a-kind covered market.
Vendors selling fruits and vegetables may be found on the ground floor, while a souvenir/craft market can be found on the first floor. In addition to the fruit stalls, there is a souvenir market on the other side of the street. A food court has been set up to satisfy your cravings where you can enjoy a few of the best Mauritius has to offer.

Enjoying at Le Caudan Waterfront

Le Caudron Waterfront is one of the top sites to see in Port Louis during your Mauritius vacation. Shopping and entertainment are available at the Caudan Waterfront in Mauritius. A casino, a theatre, a retail mall, and a variety of eateries are all available. This city area is a must-see on every visit to the city. You'll be impressed by the venue's posh atmosphere.
Have a fantastic time with friends or family at any time of day or night. In addition to having fun with your family, you can pick up some gifts for your loved ones back home. The souvenirs include anything from traditional handiwork to one-of-a-kind gifts that you won't find anywhere in Mauritius.

Hiking on Signal Mountain

Signal Mountain is a short, flat hike that offers some of the incredible scenery of Port Louis and is accessible by a road that runs through the city. It's more of a stroll uphill on a smooth road in Port-Louis than a trek in the classic sense. A wide range of ages and fitness levels use this trail to get a good cardio workout and a stunning city perspective. The well-paved path to the summit can only be reached by foot.
There are 323 feet of elevation above sea level. Getting to the top of the mountain at Port Louis takes around 30 to 40 minutes.
