Property Overview

Veranda Paul & Virginie is a small adults-only boutique hotel overlooking the lagoon at Grand Gaube, with 81 rooms and a strong couples focus. Following its 2024 refurbishment, the property combines light contemporary interiors with Mauritian decorative influences and extensive sea views. Two swimming pools, two restaurants, wellness facilities and direct access to the waterfront form the core of the resort. Its relatively compact scale creates a noticeably more intimate atmosphere than Mauritius’ larger beach resorts.

How far is the nearest beach?

The hotel is directly on the coast at Grand Gaube, with its own beachfront area overlooking the lagoon and northern islands. The shoreline is not a single uninterrupted expanse of sand, as parts of the coast around the property are rocky, but there are sandy sections suitable for relaxing and accessing the water. The most usable beach area lies around the Saint Géran restaurant side of the property. Guests therefore have immediate sea access without needing transport to reach the coast.

Distance from Airport

Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport is the international arrival point for travellers flying from South Africa. From the airport, the road journey north-east to Grand Gaube normally takes around 1 hour 15 minutes, depending on traffic and the number of stops involved in a shared transfer. No domestic flight or boat transfer is required. The hotel is also around 15 minutes by road from the Grand Baie area, making northern Mauritius relatively accessible during the stay.

Rooms

The hotel has 81 rooms divided between Comfort, Superior and Privilege categories, all designed for a maximum of two adults and all facing the sea. Accommodation begins at around 32 m², while higher categories provide additional space and upgraded amenities such as espresso machines and pillow menus. Each room includes a balcony or terrace, reinforcing the connection with the lagoon setting. The range remains deliberately straightforward, with no large villa collection or private-pool accommodation defining the product.

Food & Drink

Dining centres on two restaurants with very different settings. Isle de France is the main restaurant overlooking the pool and lagoon, serving international and Mauritian dishes through buffets and set menus, while Le Saint Géran sits on a jetty and focuses more strongly on à la carte dining and seafood. Two bars provide drinks and lighter options through the day and evening. An All Inclusive plan is available, with access and dining arrangements varying according to restaurant and room category.

Life around the lagoon includes kayaking, paddleboarding, snorkelling, glass-bottom boat trips and other water-based activities, alongside fitness and evening entertainment. A scheduled shuttle provides access to Grand Baie, while excursions can extend to nearby islands and coastal attractions.
