Don't get tangled up in your journey.

It's almost time to go on holiday! The trip will be great... You'll enjoy the beach, sip cocktails and sample the local cuisine. There will also be a chance to party with friends, family, or your partner, and get some rest by sleeping in...

To make your trip as smooth as possible, make sure you've taken these precautions before you leave. Taking time to prepare may seem unnecessary, but ensuring your mind is at ease is imperative.

The following tips will help you prepare for your trip and leave feeling at ease.

- Check the validity of your passport. Some countries require, for example, a passport with a validity of 6 months after your return date. It can take a long time to get a new passport, so it is important to check your passport well in advance before you leave.

- Check the information on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the government websites of the countries you are visiting. It is important to check the advice and risks associated with the country, entry formalities (visa, travel insurance including repatriation) and compulsory vaccinations.

- Make sure that your plane ticket allows you enough luggage for the amount of stuff you are going to take on holiday, otherwise you will have to add extra luggage. Also, check your luggage's dimensions with the dimensions that the airline accepts.

- We strongly recommend that you purchase travel insurance.

- Arrive at the airport at least three hours in advance for long-haul flights. It is better to be early than late and miss your flight...

- You can either exchange currency according to the country's currency, in advance. Otherwise, you can withdraw money on the spot with your bank card. Also, check with your bank that your bank card is set up to work abroad.

- Make sure you are familiar with local emergency numbers.

- Choose a friend or family member to be your emergency contact. Make sure they know all the details of your holiday, including the dates and times of your trip and where you are staying.
