On Zanzibar's northern edge, Nungwi is indeed a sizable settlement. It is the second-largest settlement with approximately 5,563 inhabitants and a well-known tourist destination. It is known for its dazzling white sand, five-star resorts, and stunning sea hues.
Nungwi, also called Ras Nungwi, formerly known as a center for dhow construction, now straddles the modern/traditional divide. In 2014, CNN named Nungwi's beach one of the world's 100 finest. Many new hotels, restaurants, bars, and retail establishments have sprouted up in West Nungwi during the 1990s.

Nungwi is Zanzibar's most beautiful and famous beach, and CNN has named it one of the most incredible beaches in the world for 2018. White sand and glimpses of paradise abound at Nungwi Beach. According to locals, it is Zanzibar's most excellent beach in the modern era.
Morning and evening stroll along the long and wide seashore is possible. Sunbathers will find plenty of room to spread out.
As the beach stretches along the western coast of Zanzibar Island, you'll be able to see stunning sunsets and take social media-worthy photographs because of its location. Visitors to Nungwi Beach can sip cocktails while watching the sunset over the tropical landscape.
It also offers a sunset trip on a Dhow boat, making it a favorite destination for couples.

Diving is possible on Nungwi Beach. There are gorgeous reefs with fish, algae, and corals in this area, which is very deep. You can find plenty of banana and coconut plantations on the beach, which provide cover from the sun.
Due to the considerable depth, you can swim at both high and low tides, but you must be careful. It permits swimming at any time of day or night.

Visit Mnarani Marine Turtle Conservation Pond to See a Wide Variety of Turtles

This turtle sanctuary was established in 1993 in a vast natural tidal pool by the local community. Since then, the turtles have enjoyed some layer of safety from being slaughtered and eaten.
There are various types, ages, and measures of turtles to be seen in Mnarani Marine Turtles Conservation Pond, a hatch and rehabilitation center. Hawksbill turtles, the world's largest and heaviest sea turtle, herbivorous giant tortoises, and green sea turtles can be seen in a big natural lagoon with numerous ponds. Additionally, these turtles are the best at holding their breath underwater for extended periods. You can also feed the turtles. Fish, turtles, and snakes are also found in the area.
Foreign tourists are required to pay an entry fee, while residents are not required to pay an entrance price. If you are looking for a place that supports nature and animals without exploiting or neglecting them, this is the place to go.
It is common practice for anglers to bring turtles they have accidentally caught, where they are healed and cared for until they can be released back into the wild.
Turtle eggs on a beach are also brought to this location because they have a much better chance of being newly hatched here than others.

Enjoy Night Parties at Kendwa Beach

From Nungwi, you can reach Kendwa in about 15 minutes. Visitors worldwide flock to Kendwa Beach, a famous beach in northwest Zanzibar. Shack-style pubs along the shore, with music pumping all night, make this beach a popular destination for young tourists and backpackers. The Rock hotel's Saturday night parties are legendary if you're looking for a good time. This place exudes serenity and tranquility. There is no charge to visit the beach.
The water depth increases progressively and swiftly despite the flatness of the slope. Shells, pebbles, and algae are all found in shallow waters.
The sea is peaceful, its water azure and clear as glass. The tidal range is low. Adults and children alike will feel peace here.

Visit Matemwe Beach, a Quieter Beach

We suggest taking a day journey to Matemwe, a tranquil beach located 25 kilometers south of Nungwi. Locals choose to stay in this region since it is more peaceful and offers a relaxed village atmosphere.
It is home to more intimate boutique hotels and one of the many beautiful beaches. Travelers can choose from various lodging options, including cheap motels, luxury hotels, and modern bungalows, all within a short distance of each other.
At the bottom of the beach, beautiful white sand covers the ground. The slope is level, and the water gradually deepens. Only at high tide can you go for a swim.
It is a spot where you may relax in the Indian Ocean or sit on the beach among the palm palms. You can even go snorkeling or scuba diving just off the coast.
It's easy to unwind while on vacation because of the area's long and extensive shoreline. Sunloungers, umbrellas, and alcoholic beverages are available at the beach. The breeze is warm, and the beach is comfortable.
