Overview

Located on Zanzibar Island's northwest coast, the Tanzanian village of Kendwa is located on Unguja Island. It's a three-kilometer beach walk from the town of Nungwi, accessible by foot at low tide. Daloni Island and Tumbatu Island can be seen in the distance from the north island, located on the west coast.
In the Zanzibar North Region, Dodoma, Tanzania's capital city, is approximately 245 kilometers east of Kendwa.
There are eight airports within driving distance to Kendwa, one of which is a central hub. The nearest Tanzanian airport is Zanzibar Airport, about 53 kilometers to the south. In addition to airports, there are various modes of transportation.

Visit Kendwa Beach, One of the Most Famous Zanzibar Beaches

Tourists worldwide flock to this famous beach in northwest Zanzibar's Kendwa village. It is pretty renowned and offers a lot of resorts to select from. It is unquestionably the most excellent choice for a stress-free getaway.
This beach is a popular location for young visitors and backpackers because of the shack-style taverns along the beachfront with music pounding all night. Local hotels also conduct Rastafarian full-moon parties on the beach.
This location radiates calm and peace. The beach is free to visit. Water depth rises quickly and steadily even if the slope is flat.
Shallow water is home to a wide variety of marine life, including shells, pebbles, and algae. The water is azure and transparent as glass, and it is a serene place. There are some beautiful sunsets on the beach as it faces west.
Snorkeling and dhow boat rides are available at Kendwa Beach, which sits on a beautiful stretch of coastline. In addition to swimming, this quiet site is noted for its shelling. Tides come and go with slight variation. Children and adults alike will find a sense of tranquility here.
It is enormous and makes it feel more private. During the day, you can rest and sunbathe, and in the evening, you can enjoy the gorgeous sunset cruises.

Visit Matemwe Beach, a Quieter Beach

We suggest taking a day's journey to Matemwe, a tranquil beach located 25.7 km(35 minutes) of Kendwa. Locals choose to stay in this region since it is more peaceful and offers a relaxed village atmosphere.
It is home to more intimate boutique hotels and one of the many beautiful beaches. Travelers can choose from various lodging options, including cheap motels, luxury hotels, and modern bungalows, all within a short distance.
At the bottom of the beach, beautiful white sand covers the ground. The slope is level, and the water gradually deepens. Only at high tide can you go for a swim.
It is a spot where you may relax in the Indian Ocean or sit on the beach among the palm palms. You can even go snorkeling or scuba diving just off the coast.
It's easy to unwind while on vacation because of the area's long and extensive shoreline. Sunloungers, umbrellas, and beverages are available at the beach. The breeze is warm, and the beach is comfortable.

Visit Mnemba Island(Mnemba Atoll), A Heaven for Families to Relax

It is a small, private island 32.1 kilometers from Kendwa village, surrounded by an oval reef measuring seven by four kilometers on three sides. The island's 1.5km radius and roughly triangular shape give it a cozy feel. It is a haven for those who want to go around barefoot.
The reefs surrounding this area have been designated as marine nature preserves. In some publications, Mnemba Island is called Mnemba Atoll.

Visit Nungwi Beach, The Most Spectacular Beach in the World

Zanzibar's most beautiful and well-known beach, Nungwi, recognized by CNN as one of the world's top beaches in 2018, is just 4.4 km away from Kendwa Village. It is a haven of pristine white sand and hazy views of the azure sea.
Taking a stroll along the beach in the morning and night is conceivable. There's plenty of area for sunbathers to sprawl out here. Due to its location, the beach on Zanzibar Island's west coast offers magnificent sunsets and the opportunity to take social media-worthy photos.
Banana and coconut plantations abound along the coastline, welcoming respite from the hot sun. At low and high tides, you can swim here, but you must exercise caution due to the substantial depth of the water.
