Overview

Praslin Island was initially called Ile de Palme (Palm Island) by a French explorer in the mid-18th century because of the large number of enormous palm trees that covered the Island. It lies in the western Indian Ocean.
Located 45 kilometers (28 miles) northeast of Mahe, Praslin is the second-most populous and sec pegmatite island in Seychelles. Tourists flock to this sanctuary, formerly a favorite of pirates, because of its beautiful beaches and lush rainforests reminiscent of a tropical paradise island.
Praslin's crystal-clear seas are well-known for scuba diving, and the coastline offers good snorkeling opportunities.

Why Praslin

In addition to the usual tropical-island trio of sun, sea, and sand, you'll find floral wonders, uncommon birds(black parrot), and typical Seychellois island life's leisurely tempo. It is a paradise for nature-lovers.
The Island was formerly used as a pirates' hideout, and now you'll find coastal settlements and shops serving fresh bread and cured sailfish.
Surreal beauty may be seen on Praslin Island in Seychelles. In addition to its palm-lined beaches and expansive natural reserves, this jewel paradise is now one of the most popular vacation locations for honeymoon couples, nature lovers, and adventure seekers.
Praslin is also a great starting point for exploring the other islands. You can take Praslin's magnificent beauty from above with stunning islands, archipelago views, and helicopter flights.

Things to Do & See in Praslin

Make Memorable Photos at Paradise, Anse Lazio Beach

Possibly the best beach in the archipelago, Anse Lazio is Praslin's most well-known. It's no surprise that this coastline is a photographer's dream and is frequently ranked among the world's top ten beaches because of its soft and fine powdery white sands, turquoise waters, palm trees, and lush flora. It's ideal for relaxing, swimming, and snorkeling.
The beach's wide variety of activities makes it so popular with Seychelles visitors, who appreciate that the beach has something to offer everyone. It's an excellent beach by anyone's description because of the ideal sun, sea, and sand blend.
The swimming is fantastic. A net surrounds the swimming area, keeping fish and other wildlife away from swimmers, and a lifeguard is on duty to ensure their safety. There is a designated area where children and novice swimmers can stay. However, they need to keep close to the beach. Snorkeling is best done along the rocks.
It's simple to spend an entire day at the beach because there are a few beachfront bars to keep you hydrated and fed. Thanks to the crystal-clear water and spacious sand areas where children may play, the beach is ideal for families.

To avoid crowds, visitors should arrive before 9 a.m. There are three parking places close to the ocean, behind the tree line, for those who prefer to reach by car. Anse Lazio has earned its status as one of the world's most beautiful and well-equipped resorts. It is a must-see for visitors.

See black parrots at Vallee de Mai

A vacation to Praslin would not be complete without a stop at this UNESCO World Heritage Site, which is the Island's primary draw. It is the ideal place to go in Praslin for wildlife lovers.
It is famous for its rare coco de Mer palm trees. Coco de Mer palms make up around 1/4 of the plants in the valley, while over half of the remaining palms are unique to Seychelles. Because this is the only spot where this particular uncommon nut is grown, UNESCO has designated the area a World Heritage Site. It is the most excellent location to see a rare coco de Mer palm grove in its natural state.
Over 50 indigenous flora and trees and some unusual wildlife can be seen here. Vallee de Mai is home to the black parrot, the country's national bird. The piercing scream of the black parrot can be heard throughout the valley. The best places to catch a glimpse of them are in the open, near the entrance, or from the vantage point.
In 1881, British commander Charles Gordon visited the valley and concluded that it was the original Eden, with the Coco de Mer representing the forbidden fruit.
You'll also get to see wild pineapple, natural coffee, allspice trees, and even macaroni growing from the sky while you're there.

Fishing and Diving

In Praslin, it feels as if the waters are purposefully built to accommodate a variety of fishing methods and skill levels. If you're a seasoned pro or a novice, there's a fishing experience to suit your needs. An avid angler can catch anything at all, from Blue Marlin and Sailfish to Bonefish and Milkfish to Trevally and Grouper in the clear waters of Praslin.
Isn't this a beautiful place to see a variety of colorful reef fish? You'll observe a wide variety of marine life when you dive into the Praslin area. As you float weightlessly through the crystal-clear water, taking in the rocky structures and hard-coral formations, you'll be inspired by the variety of marine life you'll see.

Learn about Praslin's Culture at Praslin Museum

The Praslin Museum is Praslin's first museum and is located close to the Cote D'Or beach. The finest venue to learn about Praslin's history and culture is this museum. It is a must-see for visitors to the Island. This museum features beautiful artifacts showcasing the unique culture and customs of the region.
While the museum displays Seychelles' cultural traditions, It also has an endemic plant and medicinal plant garden where visitors may see fruit bats and drink Citronelle tea or native fruit juice. Unique Plants that are only found in Seychelles are featured in the exhibit.
Guests are encouraged to take part in several traditional activities. Peeling a coconut and sampling breadfruit are just two examples of the exciting activities available.
Visitors are drawn to this museum because of its one-of-a-kindness. Near the museum, you may see the tortoise and bluebirds.

Snorkeling at Cote D'Or Beach

Cote d'Or is another gorgeous beach on this Island. It is the largest and most expansive beach in length and width.
The beach is 2-kilometer long, lined with powdery white sand, and encircled by lush tropical vegetation. The water is clear, transparent, and azure as it descends to the bottom. The depth has been increasing over time.
There are luxury resorts and hotels around the beach, making it a perfect spot for snorkeling because of the calm sea. All kinds of water sports are available at the resort for guests to enjoy. This beach's vistas are breath-taking and photogenic.
