Overview

One of the Seychelles archipelago's most pristine granitic islands, covering 30 hectares with a length of 1.4 kilometers and a width of 800 meters, and one of the world's most environmentally significant private islands, Cousine Island, is located just below the equator and 1,000 miles east of Africa. As a luxury resort and a natural preserve, it's been open to the public since 1992. It can be reached by boat or helicopter.
Previously, this island was home to a coconut and coffee plantation, and remnants of those operations can still be found around the island.
Conservationists' efforts to restore the environment from intensive farming have created a habitat for rare trees, shrubs, and flowers. Native trees are being planted on this island. Over the years, they've grown over 2 000 natural trees.
Among the world's rarest birds, the magpie robin lives on Cousine. Nesting sea turtles can be seen on the beach from September through January. Every year, this island is the birthplace of approximately 14,000 baby animals who begin their existence in the Indian Ocean.

Why Cousine

The island of Cousine is awe-inspiring. For those who love nature and want to be alone with it, it's a place for them. Sir Paul McCartney spent his honeymoon here in the summer of 2002.
Coral reefs entirely encircle the flat and densely vegetated Island of Cousine. A lovely good beach on the northeast side of the island offers the opportunity to relax in complete solitude.
Four excellently crafted French colonial Villas on Cousine Island situated barely 100 feet from the sugar-white beach offer a higher level of solitude and minimize human influence. For a magnificent Garden of Eden experience, each villa is air-conditioned and filled with pure sea air. Each of the villas also has a front and back balcony, a private pool, and outdoor baths, all with a view of the ocean.
On prior request, snorkeling excursions and diving instruction can also be arranged. It is also home to a wide variety of wildlife.
Become a part of the Cousine Island Seychelles conservation effort by planting trees, monitoring turtles, or calling and feeding Magpie Robins, among other activities. Explore the natural world with a local ecologist or go snorkeling to see hordes of tropical fish.
