Overview

Ubud (pronounced "Ew-bood"), a town on the Indonesian island of Bali, is a hotspot for sustainability, mindfulness, culinary creativity, and the best of international tourism. The name Ubud is derived from the Balinese term Ubad, which means medicine, and was inspired by the region's wealth of plants and herbs. Local farmers, rice paddies, agroforestry plants, and tourist lodgings make up the territory surrounding the town.
In the center section of Bali Island, Ubud is an administrative region with 74,800 inhabitants and 42.38 km2. This Balinese town perched in Bali's mountains has drawn artists and travelers for over a century as a significant center of Balinese culture, cultural spirituality, gorgeous surroundings, vibrant arts scene, rich culture, and innumerable attractions.

See Macaque Moneys at Ubud Monkey Forest

Ubud Monkey Woodland is more than simply a natural wonder. It is a tranquil, beautiful landscape, the most famous tourist attraction, and one of the most entertaining spots in Bali for the courageous. This woodland attracts about 12,000 visitors each year.
About hundreds of gray long-tailed macaque monkeys live in this forest that roams freely over the tall trees and temple complex. You can experience all of the jungle monkeys' wild antics and enjoyment in Ubud.
It is also a venue for scientific research and spiritual and cultural features. Because of its community-based management, location, and accessibility of access, it is a famous wildlife reserve in Bali. Its purpose is to conserve the land using the Tri Hita Karana idea. Based on the Tri Hita Karana philosophy, it has numerous temples to visit.
From the tall trees to the classic stone-carved statues, the 31-acre park exudes tranquility. Aside from watching monkeys and praying at the temples, you can stroll through the forests along the paths. Walking around the Monkey Forest's snaking, moss-covered brick paths is a terrific way to cool off in the afternoon heat.

Shopping at Ubud

The surge of tourists to Ubud and so many artists has resulted in the opening of many unique stores and businesses. It is a fantastic shopping destination, with many local artisans and craftsmen producing beautiful items.
Unique and stunning crafts, artwork, magnificent tiles and metalwork, and crocheted crafts can be found at local shops, in addition to clothing and jewelry. The Ubud Art Market in the city center is the most popular. Still, others like the Sukawati & Guwang art marketplaces also offer unique shopping experiences with various stalls displaying paintings, woodcarvings, and locally created trinkets of several types.
Various art businesses and some high-end fashion boutiques line the main thoroughfare of Jalan Raya Ubud and its branching pathways like the Monkey Forest Road.

Walk Through Tegallang Rice Terraces

You don't have to travel much further in Ubud to enjoy breathtaking views of the townsite. Much of the sites of Ubud are covered in green rice fields, easily accessible by foot or bicycle. Tegalang has some of the most renowned rice fields, and it's less than 20 min from Ubud. It's where the bulk of tourists travel to take photos. The Tegallang rice terrace is known for its beautiful scenery. With a magnificent sun streaming down from above on the beautiful green rice paddies, it is undoubtedly a wonderful sight for all tourists.
Hiking these peaceful fields early today to hear the sounds of village life begin is an experience you will never forget.

Visit Goa Gajah, one of the World Heritage Site

One of the most magnificent archaeological sites on the island, Goa Gajah( also known as Elephant Cave Because of its closeness to the Elephant River), about 6 kilometers from Ubud's center, has been recognized as a potential World Heritage Site By UNESCO. It was built as a shrine in the 9th century.
Inside the cave, there are rock-wall sculptures, a meditational location, and a face marks the elephant cave's entrance with a wide-open mouth. Only one person can pass through the temple entrance gate.
In addition to the Hindu temple, it contains a fantastic public swimming pool featuring stone carvings and fountains unearthed in 1954. Tourists from nearby Ubud are drawn to a mysterious cave, antiquities, and old bathing waters nestled between verdant paddy fields and gardens.

Visit Tegenungan Waterfall, the most beautiful WaterFalls in the Ubud Area

You won't be short on things to visit in Ubud if you're a nature lover. Visit the stunning Tegenungan Waterfall, which is surrounded by thick foliage. It is among the most beautiful waterfalls in the Ubud area. It's a beautiful 30-minute drive from Ubud to the falls via paved rural roads with expanses of lush farmlands on both sides.
The splendor of this Waterfall has been enhanced by the blossoming plants in the surrounding area, and the volume of water is stunning at practically any time of year.
